Question by Azreale: What age is appropriate to let a child drink an energy drink?
Is there an age? My neighbors give their 7 year old boy Monster. The little boy is already really hyperactive and the energy drinks make him 10X worse. Why would parents let a little child drink these? Can they not know how bad they are? Personally I am really conscious of what my kids eat and would never allow energy drinks, but what age do you think is okay to start drinking this type of drink?

I would never give myself or my son an energy drink.
What do you think? Answer below!
Never, even adults should stay away from those things.
age 16….NEVER EVER B4 THAT
You can pour it right in the baby bottle.
Anywhere from 12 to 14 depending on how hyper they are to start with and on whether they really need it or not.
Its a drink people, chill.
When your kids can buy it themselves and they want it, then I think it’s ok. Little kids don’t need it.
I’ve never bought that for my kids and they’ve never asked. Honestly if they did ask I would say no, I’m not buying that crap. My kids are 15, 15, 13 and 10. I just think it’s so bad for you and don’t see the need for it. Kids should have enough energy as it is, they are kids for crying out loud, why do they need energy drinks?
I THINK THE PROPER AGE IS TO GIVE YOUR CHILD AN ENERGY DRINK WOULD BE 15. THAT MAY SOUND OLD BUT THEY SHOULDNT NEED ONE THAT YOUNG. KIDS REALLY DONT NEED ONE UNLESS THEIR IN SOME TYPE OF SPORTS.
that stuff is nasty but its too late for that kid. they should only be allowed to drink them if they know all the side-affects and can go to the store and buy it with their own money.
Energy drinks are for adults. Children should not be given the high dose of sugar and calories and “energy”. They are kids, do really NEED more energy? It is worse than soda, and leads to unhealthy eating habits and usually obesity.
I don’t know if there a certain appropriate age, but I think that if the child (well, teenager I would hope) is old enough to drive to the store and buy it with their own money, then I guess it is okay. But you should really let your son or daughter know what the drink actually is, what the effects are, what is in it, etc. When they are old enough and really know what they are drinking (not just a tasty drink) and can make their own conscious decision about it, then they can drink it if they want it and the parent says it is okay.
NEVER.What child needs it anyways? It is not healthy for them. I don’t even let my kids drink soda (besides splitting a can of Sprite once in awhile) and they are 6 and 9. Well, I have a 2 1/2 yr old but she doesn’t get soda at all (or Kool-Aide, or any of that other crap that isn’t 100% juice, milk or water). Parents these days really make me wonder…
I would say 15 or 16. They would be buying it themselves too. My stepson is 11 and he has enough natural energy. We don’t let him drink soda with caffeine at our house even. I couldn’t imagine letting a 7 yr old drink Monster. What morons.
My kids are 17 and 13. My youngest would drink them if I let him, but my oldest wouldn’t even touch them. But she doesn’t really drink any caffeinated drinks except for an occasional iced tea. The kids are not allowed to drink them at school or take them on field trips. To me that says that they don’t need them before they are 18. I wouldn’t freak out if either of my kids had one, but I won’t buy any for them. I would never let a 7 year old have one even if they aren’t hyper.
It’s dangerous for adults to drink that stuff. It’s never safe to give it to children. It’s the caffeine content that I would be concerned about. It’s higher than most colas and coffee.
I don’t think any age would be appropriate. Why would they need it? I know someone who did something similar to her kids … she would actually brew iced tea and put it in a baby bottle for her 2 year old. It wasn’t decaf either.

Those things taste like liquid battery acid. Just let them have coffee or something.
I give my children energy drinks everyday. They love Orange juice and vegetable/fruit smoothies. As for artifical energy drinks..two words…ignorant.parents.
Who the fuck wants to hype a hyperactive kid up anymore? You’d think they would want to lace his food with Benadryl!
I don’t even drink those. I would never have my child drink that crap.
