What is the longterm effects of regularly drinking energy drinks?

Question by Bill M: What is the longterm effects of regularly drinking energy drinks?
I know that energy drinks have a lot of chemicals in them, but do they really hurt you in the long run? I was told a man had heart problems because he drank multiple Red Bull drinks a day for months straight. I also noticed that the drinks are getting bigger, so the size of the drink may be a factor. Would drinking energy drinks regularly do longterm damage?

No long term effects from energy drinks have been proven to cause health issues.
Some say it causes an irregular heartbeat and may raise cholesterol levels from the caffeine.
